In a surprising move Godfall, which was originally announced as a PS5 and PC exclusive, is coming to the PS4, a last-gen system, on August 10.
Godfall, which Gearbox publishes, is a looter-slasher developed by Counterplay Games. It was one of the few true next-gen games announced before the launch of the PlayStation 5. But today, the developers have announced that Godfall will actually be retroactively coming to the PlayStation 4.
Furthermore, anyone who purchases the PS4 copy of Godfall is entitled to a free update to the PS5 version, plus there will be cross-gen support. So players can team up regardless of which generation of the system they’re on.
In addition, Counterplay Games announced several updates and the first major expansion. Titled Fire and Darkness, the new expansion will have players venture into the Fire Realm, face new enemies, and acquire new high-level gear.
A free Lightbringer Update will also add the Lightbringer Endgame mode with new rooms and, what else, loot. Over 40 new items and skins will go live with the update on August 10.
