2020 may be a year of punishing surprises, but it appears that one yearly ritual remains as reliable as the sun rising in the morning. It may be a bit later than usual, but we’re getting a new Call of Duty game, just in time for the peak holiday shopping season. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13, bringing the storied shooter series to another generation of consoles in addition to PC, making for an extensive roster this year: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5. One supposes that, given Xboxes two consoles this generation, this is the most machines a Call of Duty has ever launched on.

Launch is, in some cases, a coordinated global launch, and rolling in other cases. Here’s the deal on each platform:

Xbox Series X+S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5: It’s a rolling launch here, at least until we get to North America. The game will be available at midnight local time on November 13 in most regions. In North America, the game will be available at midnight Eastern Time, so people on the West Coast can pick up up at 9:00 PM Pacific on November 12. That means that we’re already seeing New Zealanders playing the game on Twitch, as often happens with this sort of thing. This info is from Charlieintel.

The only exception here is the PS5 version in regions where the PS5 has not yet been released. In that case, just wait for the PS5.

PC (battle.net): On PC it’s a similar situation, with the game launching at 12:00 AM Eastern time on November 13 in North America. Activision handy infographic for you to help navigate different time zones here:

This information is via Charlie Intel, which is pretty reliable about that sort of thing. I’m asking Treyarch for confirmation in the meantime. Pre-load is currently available on all platforms, so get downloading now if you want to jump in right away. The file size is not nearly so bad as it could be, or at least not nearly so bad as Modern Warfare has gotten us accustomed to:

  MORE FOR YOU

  PlayStation 4: 95GB

  PlayStation 5: 133GB

  Xbox One: 93GB

  Xbox Series X|S: 136GB

PC: 125GB for full game on ultra graphics

In all cases, you can also choose to uninstall portions of the game if you don’t want to play them anymore, for example uninstalling the campaign once you’re done with it to free up space.

And that’s what you’ve got to know: I’ll be excited to drop into the campaign, as I liked the campy Cold War nonsense of the original Black Ops and am excited to see what sort of weirdness the story gets up to this time.
