[call of duty black ops 4 xbox one]Here’s how Call of Duty: Warzone connects to Black Ops Cold War

2021-07-24

Treyarch has already revealed the first few details about the new Call of Duty game coming later this year. But while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be the next main entry in the series, Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t going anywhere. Instead, the standalone Call of Duty battle royale game will continue to get updates that closely tie-in with Cold War.

Once Cold War is released later this year, Warzone will move into Chapter 2 and begin getting new Cold War-themed content. All of the progress Warzone players have already gained will carry over into Chapter 2 including all of the weapons and unlocks from Modern Warfare. The next chapter of Warzone will also include shared progression between Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, meaning that items earned in one can be used in the other.

Like the current Modern Warfare-related version of Warzone, Chapter 2 will include battle passes with free content and periodic free updates with new content that all players will have access to.

The biggest new feature coming to Warzone with the release of Cold War will be cross-generation cross-play. This means that players on all different platforms can play with each other including Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, when those platforms are released later this year.

According to Treyarch, this is just the beginning of what the studio has to reveal about Warzone’s future, and we may get more info on Call of Duty’s battle royale future during the Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal on Sept. 9. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on Nov. 13 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 when those consoles come out later in the year.
