We all miss the Jet Set Radio games, but thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer until we get a bit of a spiritual successor to the franchise in Hover: Revolt of Gamers, which leaves Early Access and sees the finished game released for Steam on May 31. Originally brought to the public’s attention back in 2014 through its Kickstarter campaign, the third-person action game was an instant success, and now we finally get to check out the fruits of developers Frusty Game and Midgar Studio.
Taking place in a high-tech city on a distant planet, Hover sees you playing as the rebellious Gamers, setting out to destroy a dictatorship that has outlawed entertainment and fun of any kind. Yes, the classic buzzkill kind of dictatorship. A bit cheesy in terms of premise, but you can’t argue with the vibrant style and the parkour-fueled gameplay, which comes in both third and first-person modes. Should you desire a refresher on how the game looks and plays, feel free to check out one of its gameplay videos below. Hover will be heading to Steam first at the end of May, then has its sights set on a Q4 2017 release date for PS4 and Xbox One.
