Former Arsenal forward Michael Thomas has warned his old club they need to “act fast” if they are to sign James Maddison from Leicester City this summer.

Maddison has been linked with a move to the Gunners, but could face some serious competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City – something that Thomas has been discussing.

He told CaughtOffside: ““I like Maddison and I am definitely for Arsenal pushing this move through.

“We need to act fast, and also deal with the other issues in the squad at the same time. Hopefully we can then get the players in for a full pre-season where possible, ready for the first game.”

According to Mansion Global, Arsenal man Reiss Nelson has placed his north London home up for sale, fuelling speculation that he could be set to leave the club.

Nelson made just nine appearances for the Gunners in all competitions last season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.

Now, the report claims he is planning for life away from his current home that could mean he is looking to move elsewhere.

According to Transfer Market Web, numerous clubs across Europe are tracking Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

football.london understands that AS Roma are close to completing a deal to bring Xhaka to the Italian capital, but the latest report from TMW suggests there will be plenty of competition for his signature.

Xhaka is reportedly being watched by Liverpool, Juventus, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham and Manchester City.

Arsenal fans could get their Sergio Ramos transfer wish this summer.

It is expected that the Spaniard will complete a move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, but reports claim that the Gunners have asked to be kept in the loop regarding any future talks.

And Mikel Arteta may have hinted at being open to signing Ramos – or another central defender – with his comments about working with “four to five” centre-backs.

I just want a really strong core of defenders, central defenders, four to five.

And then generate that competition and also that cohesion which is really necessary.

William Saliba's Arsenal career has taken yet another twist.

On Friday night, The Athletic reported that Saliba has chosen to join Marseille for what will be his third loan spell as long as Arsenal can reach an agreement with the French side.

Therefore it seems Arteta has changed his mind with regards to plans for the young centre-back.

He will come back for pre-season and he will be with us.

Hopefully he will come back after playing a number of games and his performance raising and his development progressing in the right way. That’s why we made that decision.

Having previously been linked to Brazilian wonderkid Kaio Jorge in the past, the Gunners will be boosted to hear that they can pick him up for absolutely nothing.

The Santos forward is out of contract at the end of the year and is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club according to Gazeta Esportiva.

This could be one to keep an eye on for the next few months.

As transfers for Nuno Tavares, Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga get closer to completion Richard Garlick's influence on Edu's role is already starting to become clear.

The acquisition of Garlick in January was not exactly met with the same fanfare as a multi-million pound deadline day signing, but it could be just as crucial.

With this in mind, it's somewhat reassuring to know that arguably their most important piece of business was done at the beginning of the year.

That is according to the Transfer Window Podcast, who claim that the Gunners are “desperate” to get some cash for the French forward before he could potentially leave for nothing next summer.

Arsenal are preparing to step up their transfer activity in the coming days with incomings expected to be completed relatively soon.

Edu's work is unlikely to finish there though as football.london understands that Arsenal are on the lookout for recruits in no less than five positions this summer.

With that said, click here for how Arsenal could line up on the opening day of season if Edu splashes £149m on five transfers.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hit out at the club's decision to sell Granit Xhaka.

With the midfielder on the verge of joining Roma, the former Gunners striker thinks his performances at Euro 2020 suggest Mikel Arteta is making a mistake.

There’s no way Arsenal should be selling a player that can play like that, at that level.

So unfortunately for us it looks like he is going but I’m delighted for him because he’s answered a lot of critics. He was magnificent.

Sticking with Arsenal departures now, this one was a little harder to envisage despite having not yet played a game.

French defender William Saliba was expected to challenge for a first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium next season but according to The Athletic has agreed to a loan move to Marseille.

All that is apparently left is forn Arsenal to agree to move but that should not prove to be a significant stumbling block.
